NC Military Bases Brace For Teacher Furloughs

Teachers at Fort Bragg and other military bases in the state are preparing for up to five furlough days.

Teachers at North Carolina's military bases are preparing for up to five furlough days due to cuts from the sequester. 

The Department of Defense says instructors and other nine-month employees can expect mandatory days off after the next school year starts.  Marilee Fitzgerald is the director of the Department of Defense Education Activity, which oversees schools at military bases.

Tactical Soldiers To Be Honored At Pope Air Field

Several tactical soldiers will get special recognition tomorrow at Pope Air Field in Fayetteville.  Members of the 21st Special Tactical Squadron are being awarded for their service in Afghanistan. The unit is a highly-trained ground force that often works side-by-side with elite special operations forces such as Army Rangers and Navy SEALs. The Unit's commander, Lieutenant Colonel Spencer Cocanour says 38 soldiers will be honored.
