Raleigh-Durham International Airport is offering area residentsa chance to learn about a process for establishing a long-term growth and efficiency plan.

RDU Spokeswoman Mindy Hamlin says the airport is launching its 18-month master plan study process.

"The goal is to look at aviation forecasts," Hamlin said. "How many passengers do we expect to be traveling through the airport in the next five, ten, fifteen, twenty years, and how much cargo do we expect to go through the airport during that time period?"

They'll also assess land use and revenue at a meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Durham City Hall, and Tuesday 6:30 p.m. at Raleigh City Hall.

"There is an opportunity for the public to go around and meet representatives from our master study team, and to ask questions and learn more about the process."

Hamlin said there will be eight public meetings over the next 18 months. The public can also learn more and offer feedback at the Vision 2040 website.
