Jade City Pharaoah is a radio drama, the first such enterprise to star an African-American superhero.

At the end of season 1, our hero Herald M.F. Jones (aka The Jade City Pharaoh) was gravely wounded by his arch nemesis, The Beef Cooka. In this episode, Herald's closest friend, Supreme Intellect ('Preme) and police detective Martina McCoy wait anxiously at Herald's bedside as our hero pays an out-of-body visit to his long-deceased mentor.

This is T-Surugy 99.9 Jade City Radio, the new voice in hip-hop and R&B.  Forecast for today: hotter than fish grease.  We want to send out get well wishes to the Super Spectacular Herald Jones who's lying in a coma, hundreds are gathered outside Jade City Memorial with flowers and get well wishes.  Mr. Jones we need you in these streets brother, crooks are acting like it's Christmas out here.  BROTHER JONES, Please, WAKE UP!!!!

SFX
Sound effect: T-Surugy hitting a symbol

sounds of traffic, the opening and closing hospital doors, hospital sounds.

MARTY
So what's it look like doctor?

DOCTOR
He's lost a lot of blood and right now he's in a coma, Detective.
P

REME
How long will  he be the coma?   

DOCTOR
I don't know Mr. Intellect.  It's very hard to say.  Look.  I need to check some lab results.  When I have more I'll let you know.

MARTY
Can we see him?

DOCTOR
Sure, but only for a few moments, understood?

MARTY
Thank you doctor.
Sound effect:  The doctor walking away.  The door of hospital room opening.

MARTY
Ahhh JONES, what have did they do to you?
PREME
  (emotional)
Damn he looks bad.  You got to hang in there my dude.  And know that I'm gonna cuss your ass out when you wake up. Why'd you go in their by yourself?!  You had to know it was a trap.  Why dog?

Sound effect: transition to dream world music.  The sound of a man eating collards and smacking his lips.

JONES
Uncle Roscoe, is that you?

UNCLE ROSCOE
Who else you think it is?

JONES
Are you alive?

UNCLE ROSCOE
If I was alive would I be walking round in all this white silk?

JONES
But you're eating collard greens with chopsticks?

UNCLE ROSCOE
After-Life collards are the best, plus you don't get gas when eat them.

JONES
Well am I dead?

UNCLE ROSCOE
Close.   You should be.  That's why I came to talk to you.  You need to wake your trifling behind up and get back to fighting crime.  You making me look bad up here.  Superman done died and come back four or five times and you laying up here like you can't even make it back from a coma.  You better open up your dog-gone eyes and get back to it.

JONES
Miss you too UNCLE ROSCOE.

Sound effect:  Dreamlike music- back to reality.

PREME
What if he doesn't wake up?

MARTY
Don't say that.

PREME
I don't know what I'd do without him.  I mean I wouldn't have to pay him back that 25 dollars I owe him, but still, he's my best friend.

MARTY
JONES' not gonna die PREME.  Cause if JONES dies BEEF COOKA wins.

JONES
And that ain't ever gonna happen.  Ever!

MARTY
JONES!

PREME
Ha! Ha! Ha!  Once again it's on!!!!!!

JONES
Wasn't ever off PREME.

MARTY
What do you call being in a coma then JONES?

JONES
I was just resting my eyes MARTY.  But it might not be a bad idea to let everyone think I'm in a coma or better yet dead.  That way, the BEEF COOKA will get sloppy then we take down the whole operation piece by piece.

MARTY
Roger that JONES.  Roger, damn, that.
