Coal Ash Spill Update

Eleven days after a coal ash spill in Eden, North Carolina leaked 82,000 tons of potentially toxic material into the Dan River, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. What's the best way to clean up the river? Who should be held responsible? And how can we prevent an accident like this from happening again? Host Frank Stasio talks with WUNC reporter Jeff Tiberii about spill clean-up efforts.

Longtime NPR correspondent Frank Stasio was named permanent host of The State of Things in June 2006. A native of Buffalo, Frank has been in radio since the age of 19. He began his public radio career at WOI in Ames, Iowa, where he was a magazine show anchor and the station's News Director.
