Sidney Poitier became the first African-American to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in the 1963 film, “Lilies of the Field.” From his earliest days growing up in the Bahamas, to that Oscar win and beyond, Poitier says it has been a most improbable life. It’s the final installment in our presentation of lectures from the Guilford College Bryan Series.
