In 2003, Jo Maeder found herself at a crossroads. After 25 years as a Top 40 radio DJ, she was starting to feel dissatisfied with her career and was becoming increasingly worried about her estranged, aging mother, Mama Jo. When it became evident that Mama Jo could no longer live alone, Maeder uprooted her life in New York and traveled South to care for her mom. Maeder was prepared for daily domestic battles and heartache with a woman she distanced herself from at a young age, but the years she spent living with and tending to Mama Jo turned out to be the most rewarding of her life. She joins host Frank Stasio to talk about her memoir, "When I Married My Mother" (DaCapo/2009), set primarily in Greensboro.
