Jazz drummer Louie Bellson first tried his hand at percussion at the age of three. At fourteen, he invented the double bass drum technique. For years, he traveled the world as a bandleader and accompanied other jazz legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and even his late wife, singer Pearl Bailey. Host Frank Stasio hears about the golden era of jazz from Bellson as he stops into town for a gig with the Duke University Jazz Ensemble.
