Bertha "B" Holt comes from a long line of lawyers. In the 7th grade, she made up her mind to follow in the professional footsteps of her ancestors. The only problem was that it was the 1920s and career opportunities for women were severely limited. Still, Holt enrolled in law school and eventually found work as an attorney in Washington, D.C. before relocating to Burlington, North Carolina. She later became one of North Carolina's first female House representatives and a key player in getting the state house to pass an Equal Rights Amendment. Holt joins host Frank Stasio to talk about her family, her pioneering experiences in the legal field and her political career.
