As Duke Performances' Following Monk event series winds down this weekend, historian Robin D.G. Kelley pays a visit to the Triangle to discuss his research into the life of Thelonious Monk. While Monk may be known best for his distinctive piano compositions, eccentric personality, and unconventional fashion sense, Kelley says it turns out, at his core, the jazz legend was just a romantic guy who couldn't resist a good practical joke. Guest host Scott Huler talks to Kelley about the man behind the media image.
