Singer-songwriter Janis Ian was fifteen when she scored her first hit. It was a song about an interracial relationship and it was released in 1966, just as America was reaching a boiling point in the battle for civil rights and racial equality. The controversial tune, "Society's Child," shaped Ian's long and tumultuous career as a musician. More than 40 years later, the Grammy-winner has penned a memoir and recorded a CD with new and previously unreleased tunes. Janis Ian joins host Frank Stasio to talk about her latest projects and her past experiences. Plus, she’ll play some of her classic tunes live.
