In 2004, the Bush campaign announced that “W” stood for women. Most feminists dismissed the slogan as nothing more than a cynical ploy to capture an important part of the electorate, but Lori Marso and Michaele Ferguson argue that the administration's rhetoric on women's issues deserves a closer look. Frank Stasio talks to Lori Marso and Michaele Ferguson, editors of "W Stands For Women: How The George W. Bush Presidency Shaped A New Politics of Gender" (Duke University Press/2007), and David S. Gutterman, assistant professor of politics at Willamette University and an author of one of the articles in the book.
