Carter Wrenn and Gary Pearce met when they were representing their bosses - Jesse Helms and Jim Hunt - over negotiations for a debate when both candidates were running for Senate in 1984. The two political operatives from different parties - Wrenn's a Republican, Pearce is a Democrat - reunited two years ago to form a blog, talkingaboutpolitics.com.
