Summer's almost over and teachers are once again filling up their lesson plans with assignments in reading, writing, and arithmetic. For some North Carolina educators, it's the writing that will inform all the other lessons this school year. Sixteen teachers from across the state spent the summer honing their writing skills under the tutelage of professors at East Carolina University. The idea is to turn teachers into better writers which will, in turn, make them better teachers. Host Frank Stasio talks to ECU English Professor Will Banks and two educators who took part in the ambitious workshop about the goals of the Tar River Writing Project.
