The traditional calendar school year starts next week. Thanks to the recession, budgets will be tighter and classrooms may be bigger. As parents, teachers and students get ready to head back to class, we look at some of the biggest issues in education around the state with our panel: WUNC Reporter Dave DeWitt; Jen Meyer, fifth grade teacher at Southwest elementary school in Durham; Tony Habit, president of the North Carolina New Schools Project; Jacob Vigdor, professor of Public Policy and Economics at Duke's Sanford School of Public Policy; and, Harris Cooper, professor and chair of Duke Department of Psychology and Neuroscience.
