This year's annual North Carolina Gay & Lesbian Film Festival showcases the silly and the serious in cinematic artistry. Among the dozens of films being screened is "Prodigal Sons," a documentary by newcomer Kimberly Reed. In it, Reed turns the camera on herself as she returns home for the first time in twenty years to attend her high school reunion. When her classmates last saw her, she was a popular, handsome football quarterback named Paul. While coming to terms with who she used to be, Reed also sets out to remedy her turbulent relationship with her adopted older brother, Marc. She joins host Frank Stasio to talk about the connection between gender identity, genetic identity, and family ties.
