Today, Angela Shelton is an actress, a filmmaker, an author and a hero to scores of women who appreciate her advocacy for victims of sexual abuse. But the Asheville native spent much of her life keeping her painful past a family secret. It wasn't until she embarked on a unique journey of self-discovery-- by meeting other women named Angela Shelton-- that she was able to come to terms with the abuse she suffered when she was only three years old. Shelton recently penned a memoir called "Finding Angela Shelton: The True Story of One Woman's Triumph over Sexual Abuse" (Meredith Books/2008). She joins host Frank Stasio to talk about the long and challenging road to overcoming violence and finding joy. This program was originally broadcast on May 12, 2008.
