Baltimore-born jazz pianist Joseph Blair was better known as Brother Yusuf Salim, an important figure in Durham's music scene and a mentor to many young jazz artists in North Carolina. Salim, who played with legends like Charlie Parker and Coleman Hawkins, passed away yesterday at the age of 79. Larry Thomas, radio announcer and board member of the Triangle Jazz Society, joins host Frank Stasio to talk about Brother Salim's important contributions to the art of jazz.
