The power of words is undeniable. Words start wars and stir the deepest emotions. Words also play an undeniable role in our legal system. That's never been more true than in the ongoing case involving three Duke lacrosse players. Are those who have been charged with the crime Duke students, accused rapists, young men, privileged athletes? And is the woman making the accusation a rape victim, an exotic dancer, a student, a mother, a false accuser, a Black woman? Host Frank Stasio looks at the power of words within our legal system with Wendy Murphy, professor of law at the New England School of Law; Walt Wolfram, professor of linguistics at North Carolina State University; and Brooke Barnett, assistant professor of communications at Elon University.
