In 2005, the story of the “BTK” serial killer gripped the country. The killer was a suburban dad and church-going member of his Wichita, Kansas community. It’s a gruesome story, but for author Bill Floyd, the BTK killer provided a kind of inspiration. His debut novel, "The Killer's Wife," (St. Martin's Minotaur/2008) is told from the perspective of the wife of a serial killer who is trying to shield her young son from the truth of his father's identity. Bill Floyd joins host Frank Stasio to discuss his effort to write a page-turner that also qualifies as serious fiction.
