For more than 80 years, workers at the Hooker Furniture Case Goods plant on the North Carolina-Virginia border produced quality factory-made furniture. In 2007, competition from industrial globalization silenced the sounds of the plant and put hundreds of employees out of work. The stories of the labor community within the walls of Hooker Furniture are told in the documentary "With These Hands," a project created by filmmaker Matthew Barr. Barr joins host Frank Stasio to share some memorable moments from the company's eight decades of history and to talk about the impact of overseas production on the furniture industry.
