Maya Ajmera grew up in Greenville, but spent her summers visiting relatives in India. Even as a child, she was able to connect the conditions of poverty in Southwest Asia with the rural poverty she saw in eastern North Carolina. In particular, Ajmera was bothered by the way poverty affected other children. When she was 25, she followed her calling to help the world's underserved youth. She founded the Global Fund for Children, a non-governmental organization that supports childhood education through community grants at the grassroots level. Ajmera joins host Frank Stasio to talk about her life's mission and her vision for the future of her successful NGO.
