Jane Austen’s most popular novel, “Pride and Prejudice,” has inspired films, miniseries and an entire genre of related books, from “Bridget Jones’s Diary” to “Seducing Mr. Darcy.“ But N.C. State University English Professor John Kessel is among the first to take Mr. Darcy and friends into the realm of science fiction. His novelette, “Pride and Prometheus” merges Jane Austen’s characters with those of her contemporary, Mary Shelley, author of “Frankenstein.” His story recently won a Nebula Award, one of science fiction’s most esteemed honors. Kessel joins host Frank Stasio to discuss what happens when Dr. Frankenstein comes to Pemberley.
