John Hoppenthaler teaches writing at East Carolina University. He is the author of two books, "Lives of Water" (Carnegie Mellon University Press/2003) and "Anticipate the Coming Reservoir" (Carnegie Mellon University Press/2008.) As a landscape poet Hoppenthaler has explored the nooks and crannies of his native Rockland County, New York. He's looking forward to putting the same attention to his surroundings in eastern North Carolina soon. He joins host Frank Stasio to read from his work and discuss the joys of verse for National Poetry Month.
