A new chamber musical about the life and times of Baruch Spinoza, a 17th century Dutch philosopher, is teaching students at UNC-Chapel Hill about religious liberties and social entrepreneurship. The musical, “Searching for Spinoza” is the centerpiece of a new interdisciplinary project meant to show students how to use their art to generate dialog around pressing social issues. Playwright Suzanne Ishee, UNC Opera Director and Music Department Chair Terry Rhodes and sophomore Chris Nickell join host Frank Stasio to explain how it all fits together.
