Richard Wright, the acclaimed author of "Native Son" and "Black Boy," was born in Mississippi and raised in Memphis. So why is the University of North Carolina hosting a centennial celebration in his honor? For one thing, acclaimed North Carolina native playwright Paul Green adapted Wright for the stage. UNC Distinguished Professor of History William Ferris joins host Frank Stasio to discuss Wright's other connections to the Tar Heel state. And, Wright's daughter and literary executor, Julia Wright, joins them by phone from Paris with insights and an explanation of the centennial publication of Wright's novel, "A Father's Law." Centennial events take place from April 11-13. For more information go to http://www.unc.edu/depts/csas/Conferences/richcardwright.html.
