If you live in the Triangle, it’s likely some of your electricity comes from coal mined in West Virginia. The process used to get some of that energy literally blasts the tops off of mountains. Filmmaker Mike O’Connell’s new documentary examines mountaintop removal in a specific West Virginia community, but it connects us all to the problem. He joins host Frank Stasio to discuss the film and the environmental, social and economic costs of mountaintop removal.
