From “practice makes perfect” to the “perfect gentleman,” the notion of perfection is ingrained in our language and culture. And according to Wake Forest communications professor Michael J. Hyde, it’s even in our biology. His new book, “Perfection: Coming to Terms with Being Human,” (Baylor University Press/2010) takes a wide ranging look at the instinct to be perfect and its consequences. He joins host Frank Stasio to discuss the book and his own personal struggles with obsessive-compulsive disorder.
