The latest production at Greensboro's Triad Stage theater explores race, gender and musical culture through its depiction of a complex relationship between two women. Inspired by a true story, "Black Pearl Sings!" is the tale of Susannah, a musicologist, and Pearl, an incarcerated singer. Playwright Frank Higgins and director Benny Sato Ambush join host Frank Stasio to talk about bringing these characters to life and to share some of the show's stirring music.
