There are 1,080,000 family caregivers in North Carolina. About half are caring for a parent or older relative with dementia or a similar illness. Caregiving is a difficult job and researchers at Duke University are finding out exactly how difficult. They've been studying the physical and emotional effects of caregiving and they're developing materials to make it easier. Host Frank Stasio speaks with Dr. Redford Williams and Lisa Gwyther of Duke and caregiver Jerry Salak. Listener Call-in.
