Susan Kilrain has orbited the earth more than 300 times, logging more than 7.8 million miles in space as pilot of the Space Shuttle Columbia. She says it takes more nerve to land a Navy jet on an aircraft carrier than to fly the Space Shuttle, but that being weightless is very cool. Kilrain will be at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences next week to talk about her days as an astronaut during the museum's Astronomy Days celebration. She talks with Laura Leslie about the U.S. space program and her hopes for it.
