The Carbon-Free Home

by Frank Stasio and Katy Barron
Like other houses in their Old North Durham neighborhood, the home belonging to Stephen and Rebekah Hren is a charming 1930s-era cottage. But unlike the neighbors’ homes, it’s not connected to the power grid. Stephen and Rebekah Hren join host Frank Stasio to explain their journey from a Walden-like existence in the country to an urban lifestyle nearly free of fossil fuels. And they’ll discuss their new book, “The Carbon-Free Home: 36 Remodeling Projects to Help Kick the Fossil-Fuel Habit” (Chelsea Green Publishing/2008). Listener call-in.
