Can writers accustomed to penning tomes develop characters, a narrative arc and a tight conclusion in 1600 words or less? That’s the challenge editor Marianne Gingher issued to sixty-five North Carolina writers included in her new collection, “Long Story Short” (UNC Press/2009). Gingher joins host Frank Stasio to talk about the short-short form. Plus, three authors included in the book: Sarah Dessen, Will Blythe and Lawrence Naumoff, discuss the difficulties and fun of crafting fiction in a flash.
This program originally aired on September 9, 2009.
