Using geometric patterns and large doses of repetition, choreographer and composer Laura Dean made a career out of spinning simple steps into beautifully complex and textured performances. This weekend Laura Dean will join the ranks of other dance luminaries Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, and Twyla Tharp as she's honored at the American Dance Festival with the Scripps Award for Lifetime Achievement. Laura is joined in the studio by choreographer, and former Laura Dean Dancer, Rodger Belman, who is reconstructing Laura's work "Tympani" as part of ADF's "Past/Forward" program. Laura and Rodger talk with host Frank Stasio about her life in dance and music.
