A team of researchers were surprised to discover that female boa constrictors have the ability to reproduce asexually. They were also shocked to find that the offspring of these so-called “virgin births” have a chromosomal configuration never before seen in reptiles. Warren Booth, a member of the scientific team and a research associate at North Carolina State University’s Entomology Department, joins host Frank Stasio to talk about what he calls “an evolutionary get out of jail free card” for female boas.
