University of North Carolina at Greensboro Professor Benjamin Filene understands that some of the greatest history lessons can be found outside the classroom. Last semester, he sent a group of eight students into the Guilford County community to connect with local senior citizens. The students asked the seniors to record stories about some of their most significant life experiences and the end results have been archived in an audio/photography exhibit at the Greensboro Historical Museum. Filene joins host Frank Stasio to talk about creating a unique collection of public history. He is joined by Renee Griffin, assistant director of Senior Resources of Guilford; Elizabeth Imhoff, a master's student at UNCG; and, public history project participant Carrie Ingram.
