Martin Luther King's Legacy & Today's Activism

Martin Luther King Jr. famously said that the founding fathers of the United States signed a promissory note that guaranteed all men the rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. More than 40 years after King’s death, is America any closer to making good on that promise? Host Frank Stasio will examine how far our nation has come, and how much further it has to go with guests Karla Holloway, James B. Duke Professor of English and a professor of law at Duke University; Reginald Hildebrand, associate professor of Afro-American Studies and History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Jihad Shawwa, Outreach Director for the Muslim American Public Affairs Council; Folami Bandele, executive director of the YWCA of the Greater Triangle; and Viridiana Martinez, co-founder and community organizer of N.C. Dream Team.
