“Tag-Team” parenting with non-traditional work schedules can be best for raising teenagers, according to new research out of North Carolina State University.

Joshua Hendrix is a doctoral student in Sociology at NC State and lead author of the article "Parental Nonstandard Work, Family Processes and Delinquency During Adolescence," published online in the Journal of Family Issues.

North Carolina State University recently beefed up its toxicology database, which could help revolutionize pharmaceutical research.

NC State's Comparitive Toxicogenomics Database already cataloged the harmful health impacts of environmental chemicals, like arsenic. Then pharmaceutical giant Pfizer collaborated with the CTD to add unintended side effects of therapeutic drugs.

Researchers at NC State University have come up with a safer and more efficient way to wirelessly transfer power. They’re working toward creating a process to charge electric cars that are in motion. The team of engineers has recently improved a process to send power from a stationary source to a mobile receiver.  The long-term goal is to have highway charging stations that run along the road, and would power electric vehicles.

  A company that has a deal to buy a 79,000-acre forest from North Carolina State University may have wanted to turn more than half of it into suburban cul-de-sacs, office buildings and corn farm lands, according to a company document leaked this week.

The plans, outlined in an prospectus addressed to potential investors, apparently contradicts statements the buyer, Hofmann Forest LLC, and the university have made saying the timber forest near Jacksonville in Onslow County would be protected in a potential sale.

Cat Warren is a North Carolina State University professor by day and a superhero by night. Well, sort of. Her dog Solo is a cadaver dog. Warren takes him out to suspected crime scenes to help police find the bodies of the missing and presumed deceased.

The hobby started innocently enough as a way to keep Solo’s energy in check. He wasn't very well behaved, and he flunked out of obedience school a number of times.

“He was a singleton, so he didn’t relate well with dogs," Warren said on The State of Things.

The Park Foundation has given $50 million to North Carolina State University to start an endowment for the school's prestigious Park scholarships. The gift is the largest in university history.

Each year, 45 students from all academic disciplines  are awarded full-ride scholarships. They also cover room and board, a computer, and offer lots of experiential learning opportunities.  Chancellor Randy Woodson talks about what the endowment means to the school...
