Early College High School

A team of EMS students works to resuscitate a full-size dummy that is going into cardiac arrest in a high school gym. The first responders are 16 year-old juniors at North Wake College & Career Academy, and this is just the beginning of their careers.

North Carolina is home to more Early College High Schools than any other state. New numbers show some of the most successful programs are in rural school districts.  Early College High Schools make it possible for students to earn an Associate’s Degree while still in high school.

A unique high school with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math will officially open its new building today. The Wake N.C. State STEM Early College High School is designed to serve students who would be the first in their families to go to college.
