Coble, Price Weigh In On Budget Negotiations

North Carolina's members of the House are back in Washington this week as Speaker John Boehner and President Obama try to work out a budget deal before the end of the year. The two leaders are trying to come to an agreement before automatic tax hikes and spending cuts go into effect in January. Republican Representative Howard Coble of Greensboro says Washington should consider cuts or reform for certain entitlement programs.

Congressman Price Advises On Tunisian Constitution

Chapel Hill Democratic Congressman David Price is celebrating Independence Day far from home this year. As Asma Khalid reports he's spent the week in a small North African country that only gained its freedom a year and a half ago.

Asma Khalid: Congressman Price is visiting Tunisia as the co-chair of the House Democracy Partnership. He's meeting with Tunisian politicians who are working on crafting a new constitution for the country.

Price Wants Super PAC Donors Named in Ads

As the ad wars escalate in the GOP primary race, North Carolina congressman David Price is proposing a requirement that Super PAC donors be identified in the political ads they fund.

The Triangle Democrat says the Supreme Court made a terrible decision in the "Citizens United" case, which allows unlimited corporate and union money to flow into political ads. Price says a new Supreme Court or a constitutional amendment will be needed to overturn that decision.

Miller Won't Seek Re-Election

Congressman Brad Miller has announced that he will not seek re-election. Miller made the decision after the Republican-controlled State Legislature drew maps that would have put him in the same primary election as his Democratic colleague, David Price.

In an interview today with WUNC, Miller said he’s not sure what he will do when he leaves Congress.

Brad Miller: There’s a well-worn path of former members becoming lobbyists and I really don’t want to do that unless it’s the only way I can eat.

Congressman David Price represents North Carolina's 4th District, which covers Durham, Chapel Hill, and parts of Raleigh and Cary.  The North Carolina Democrat spoke from Cairo, Egypt.  He's there as part of a bipartisan group working with the fledgling governments in Tunisia and Egypt to help set up democratic governments.
