President Trump's proposed budget cuts might impact seniors who benefit from Meals on Wheels.

Trump's budget includes an 18 percent cut to the Department of Health and Human Services, which provides grants to Meals on Wheels, a program that brings hot lunches to homebound seniors.

Wake County school board members are considering where they can make cuts in order to fill a $17.5 million budget gap. A proposed plan would increase class sizes, freeze teachers' local salary supplements and cut back on custodial services.

Reductions in state funding have forced school districts across the state to cut millions from their budgets. Durham Public Schools is planning to cut more than 90 positions at the end of the month. But parents, employees and activists are questioning the district’s decision to cut employees closer to the classroom, while leaving in place administrative positions.
