Dalton Touts Jobs Plan

The Democratic gubernatorial candidate, Lieutenant Governor Walter Dalton, announced an economic plan today that he says will create more jobs. It includes tax breaks for small businesses and a plan to attract more industries to the state. Capitol Bureau Chief Jessica Jones reports. 

Jessica Jones: Dalton officially unveiled his plan on the patio of a popular brewpub in downtown Raleigh earlier today. A few minutes into his speech, he pulled out a sweet potato and proceeded to explain why he’d brought it along to the press conference.

SEANC Withholds Endorsement For Governor

The State Employees Association of North Carolina is not making an endorsement for governor.

Gurnal Scott: The organization representing more than 50,000 state employees and retirees is holding back its support..and perhaps more importantly..its money from Democrat Walter Dalton, Republican Pat McCrory and Libertarian Barbara Howe.

Dana Cope: I think they're focused on other issues perhaps that are polling higher in this election cycle.

Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton is running for Governor. Here he answers a transportation question at a town hall meeting in Winston-Salem.

Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Walter Dalton held a Town Hall meeting this morning in Winston-Salem.

Jeff Tiberii: The current Lieutenant Governor answered questions from a group of about 30 people at a local community college. Dalton responded to audience members on issues of transportation, education and was repeatedly asked about taxes and if he would extend a sales tax increase, should he be elected to office; a position he has not taken a definitive stance on.

Republican Governors Association Attacks Dalton In TV Ad

The Republican Governor's Association is attacking Democratic gubernatorial candidate Walter Dalton in a new television ad.

RGA Ad: Walter Dalton is Bev Perdue's right-hand man. Now Walter Dalton is running away from Perdue.

Gurnal Scott: The ad in part says Perdue and Dalton's policies are the reason for the state's high unemployment rate.

RGA AD: Under Perdue and high tax policies, 40,000 more North Carolinians are out of work.
