Where North Carolina’s Congressional Members Stand On Syria

North Carolina's delegates in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have released statements about Syria.

Several of North Carolina’s members of Congress have issued statements about  U.S. involvement in Syria. The statements follow a chemical weapons attack which the U.S. says was carried out by the Assad regime in Damascus on August 21. More than 1,400 people were reported killed in the attack.

Senators Richard Burr and Kay Hagan, as well as several Representatives have made the following statements. We'll update this post with additional statements as they come in.

N.C. Congressmen Take Sides On Immigration Debate

WUNC's Gurnal Scott reports on how some North Carolina congressmen feel about the immigration debate to come in the U.S. House.

Some North Carolina members of the U.S. House are taking sides as their chamber gets ready to take up immigration reform this week.   Many House Republicans on Capitol Hill disagree with the comprehensive reform plan passed by the Senate.


GOP Congressman George Holding of Raleigh says the bill doesn't go far enough to protect the border today.  He also says he doesn't think it will be effective moving forward.

Coble, Holding Offer Different Experiences

North Carolina’s 13th congressional district is shaping up as one of the most contentious races on the May 8 primary ballot. Two of the candidates, Paul Coble and George Holding, are fighting over who is more conservative.

Dave DeWitt: Paul Coble is no stranger to running for elected office. The one-term mayor of Raleigh and current chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners has run nine times. He says his experience should count.

Much In Common In GOP Race For 13th

Paul Coble and George Holding are waging a fierce battle for the Republican nod in the 13th Congressional District. The District extends from North Raleigh through the rural counties north of the Triangle. It was re-drawn by the State Legislature and went from a safe Democratic seat to one that is likely to become Republican. The two men leading the race for the seat are very similar.

Dave DeWitt: Coble and Holding are so alike, in fact, they even share the exact same three political heroes.

GOP Race For NC-13 Heated

North Carolina’s 13th congressional district is up for grabs this election season. Incumbent democrat Brad Miller was re-districted out of the 13th by Republicans in the State Legislature. The district now leans Republican and that has created a contentious battle in advance of the primary.
