More women are in prison these days than ever before. Every year, the number of women arrested increases so why are women committing more crimes? On today’s show we’ll look at the statistics and the motivation behind this trend with: Victor Streib, Visiting Professor at the Elon University School of Law; Brenda Jarra, Program Director for Women’s Issues at the N.C. Division of Prison; and, Gwen Hunnicutt, Professor of Sociology at UNC –Greensboro. Plus, two women who have been through the criminal justice system and served time in prison join the conversation.
