Writer Joseph Mitchell wrote fascinating profiles of people you’ve never heard of for The New Yorker magazine. And he grew up in a place most New Yorkers have never heard of: Fairmont, North Carolina. Now Joseph Mitchell is the subject of an equally fascinating profile in the latest issue of the magazine Oxford American.
