The number of Americans with diabetes continues to rise sharply, and while African-Americans have been especially hard hit by the disease they often remain undiagnosed or untreated. Public health education may help close the gap, but some believe that art is part of the solution. Durham-based playwright Howard Craft has teamed up with North Carolina Central University on a series of plays aimed at improving health in the African American community. Craft joins host Frank Stasio in the studio to talk about his most recent play “A Touch of Sugga.”
