Raleigh's New Convention Center Set to Open

The grand opening of the Raleigh Convention Center takes place tomorrow- weather permitting. It's a building most Wake County residents will never visit, but it will have a major impact on Raleigh's future image and bottom line. Dave DeWitt took a tour of the building six years in the making.

Raleigh-Durham is the 28th largest media market in the country. It's similar in size to Indianapolis, San Diego, and Kansas City. But the market stands out from almost every other in the country in one way- the competitiveness of its local online media. The Triangle is one of the very few places in the country where a local TV website gets more visitors than the website of the largest local newspaper. Dave DeWitt looks at where people are going to get their local online news- and why.
UPDATE/CORRECTION: Several hours after this story aired, the News and Observer of Raleigh offered buyouts to 40 percent of its employees. Also, the story stated that G.D. Gearino took a buyout from the N&O last year. In fact, he did not take a buyout, but left the paper voluntarily.
