Throughout North Carolina, people stopped for a moment to honor and reflect on the fifth anniversary of the 911 attacks. Here are some of the voices from commemorations held on September 11th 2006 at the old Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough and at Exploris Museum in Raleigh. Laura Leslie produced this audio postcard. She got help from Gul Tuysuz.
In order of appearance, we hear from:
Eric Palman playing Taps (Hillsborough), Charles Norden (Hillsborough), Yvette Jeffries Logan (Hillsborough), US Congressman Brad Miller (Raleigh), Captain Andy Woodall (Raleigh), Leah Perry (Raleigh), Jessica Castillo (Raleigh), Emily Elliott (Raleigh), US Congressman Bob Etheridge (Raleigh), Abby Peeples (Raleigh), Patty Briguglio (Raleigh), Ted Trieble (Hillsborough).
The music is Elgar's Enigma Variations, X: Nimrod, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic under the direction of John Eliot Gardiner.
