Let it Rain, Let it Rain, Let it Rain!

Central North Carolina got a good soaking on Monday. The heavy rains coincided with the decision by some municipalities to lift their bans on outdoor water use. Cary and Apex are among the communities that now permit some limited use of sprinklers. Brandon Locklear with the National Weather Service says most of Central North Carolina got 3 quarters to one inch of rain over the last 24 hours.

"The ground should have really absorbed most of it and it looked like it fell over the proper headwaters and reservoirs."

Locklear says more showers are in the forecast.

"We have another chance for rain today as a cold front is going to move through, then we're gonna have about a 24 to 36 hour dry period then rain comes back into the forecast on Thursday very similar to the event we had yesterday so it looks like we're in a very active period for this next week."

The strictest of some of the water restrictions in the Triangle area are starting to lift. Today Cary is dropping its ban on outdoor watering. Durham is also considering loosening its water restrictions.
