The Chapel Hill Town Council paid tribute to Eve Carson before a regularly scheduled meeting last night. The student body president at UNC was found shot to death in Chapel Hill last week. Mayor Kevin Foy said he and the council are deeply saddened by her passing.
"She was a person who embodied what is beautiful in this world and it was a joy to know her. Her having been taken from us rips from us our greatest hopes, our greatest dreams and our greatest aspirations for what the world might become someday."
The murder investigation is on-going. Police in Chapel Hill released more surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case. Police Chief Brian Curran says the latest pictures appear to feature the same person of interest seen in two ATM surveillance photos released over the weekend.
"The photos depict a male going into an area convenience store. The convenience store has an ATM machine inside and he is the only person in the store at the time that an attempt was made to use Eve Carson's ATM card."
Curran says his department has received about 200 tips since the first photos were released on Saturday. People with information related to the case are asked to call 919-942-7515.
