Jeremy Loeb: The Wake School Board held an emergency meeting earlier today. Chair Ron Margiotta called the meeting to discuss reinstating bus services for students participating in after-school activities. Dave DeWitt reports.
Dave DeWitt: When the School Board approved the budget earlier this year, they did not fully realize that activity school buses would be cut. The hardship on families became evident when traditional calendar schools opened last week.
The Board today unanimously approved reinstating the bus service for students in sports, special tutoring programs, and other after-school activities. Doing so will cost about $700,000.
It will be paid for by federal dollars and savings in other areas of the schools’ transportation department.
